| Born in Washington, D.C., Joseph Holston has developed his cubist impressionist style in many different media. He attended Howard University and Montgomery College in Maryland. Holston's paintings, etchings, and serigraphs demonstrate a versatility in range, moving from realistic to abstract, while maintaining a focus on the themes of African American life. Holston was selected to be the official artist of the Chicago Jazz Festival in 1996 and 1997. His work can be seen in many public and private collections. |  | |
